Let it flow

Below is my contemplation on human creativity.

Inspired by Rich Rubins book - the Creative Act: A Way of being

Let it flow

Deep within our subconscious, underneath the water, lives a profound well of creativity.

It is an infinite source of possibilities where ideas seem to form and evolve with ease.

All of us can access this well, but external distractions, thoughts, tasks, and demands on our time often hide the entrance to this endless resource from us.

I'm astounded by the simplicity of this process. Just open up and let it flow.

Be it in art with the first stroke on a canvas or a word on a page. From a dance step or a song whose words you mumble in time with a melody. Stepping away from the control we all apply to life is an incredible creative exploration of, as SKR calls it, the human potential.

The moment of creativity is not carved out of conscious thought but something more ethereal  than that. Something beyond the modern mind. Something deep within us.

And it is that deep curiosity that has driven humanity forward. That has designed a new way of thinking, and it is that human design that will see us through into the next stage of our existence.

For thousands of years, we have lived in communities where tools have been developed to assist with tasks. Where stories have been told to assist with community, and ideas from the stars brought down to earth to understand more about who we are and what bigger thing we are part of.

It astounds me to see so many people walking head down in the world, more interested in other people life’s than the step they are actually taking.

This distraction only works to divide us even more from the reality of life. A reality which is beautiful and profound and raw and unexpected.

A reality that is changing in every moment of every day. Just as each cell within the human body is in constant communication and adaptation, we too have that opportunity to interact with each other, with our own body and mind. To check-in rather than checking out.

To be aware and ultimately, to let it flow out.

At the creative revolution, we strive to support each other, to have meaningful conversations that lead to action.

Let’s not be afraid to act. Let’s be bold and true to ourselves.

For in the end, when the screen goes black, when the last page is written, and life slowly ebbs towards completion, It is not technology that sits besides and holds you hand. It is not media that holds your gaze. It is true life, fragile and finite like the last out-breath we all share.

Be true to your inner creativity, let it shine and watch the world align.

Be well,

Douglas
